Our Thatched Farmhouse project is an idyllic 18th Century detached farmhouse with a thatched roof, set in approximately two acres of beautifully maintained grounds. The estate includes a self contained one bedroom cottage / annex, which has views of a meandering stream which flows through the land.
Janey Butler Studio has undertaken the development of the estate over a number of years with a meticulous level of design to include the landscaping, architecture and interior design. Multiple planning permissions were required to achieve approval for a much larger extension to the original farmhouse, to provide a larger kitchen and master suite, the demolition of the existing cottage / annex, and the construction of a new, much larger oak-framed building in its place, along with the addition of a handsome potting shed and greenhouse to the garden.
The Thatched Farmhouse, and various existing and proposed accompanying buildings, are set within picturesque gardens, which have been carefully and considerately thought out by the clients to be enjoyed throughout all seasons. Janey Butler Studio has developed the landscaping plan to include a large and impressive gated driveway, improve connectivity throughout the whole site, and create a number of outdoor living and entertaining spaces.
The client is a keen gardener, and a new bespoke timber framed greenhouse and adjoining reclaimed brick potting shed allows for year round enjoyment of the garden.
The property also benefits from having its own fields, adding to the serene and enchanting countryside setting. Considerable works have already been undertaken within the landscaping as part of the first phase to create a new dry stone wall with bespoke curved stone seat to the edge of the field, along with hundreds of meters of oak post fencing and planting of hedgerows.
