Traditional Japanese wooden furniture emphasizes the quality of the material and is always designed to be in harmony with man and nature. Both pieces that Roderick Vos designed for Linteloo present this Asian aesthetic and even show a particular notion of simplicity. However this simplicity is different from what simplicity means in the West. Akiro is quite a complex table in a technical sense, but Roderick Vos thinks that this doesn’t have to be visible at first sight. The table top is just 5 cm thick and yet does not bend due to its complex laminated construction. The oiled Ash wood presents a new natural texture that lends this piece of furniture a serene look.
