Vibrazioni Art Design
Vibrazioni Art Design was born in 1997, embracing the upcycling phylosophy to tranform spent oil barrels into luxury furniture and customized motorbikes. Long years of fine tuning of design, shapes and production techniques lead to a complete range of products with high quality standards and extreme customizability.
The resources from which this story begins are reclaimed materials, and specifically the metal drums used in various industrial sectors, from petrochemical to food industry. Those drums with lively colors and peculiar printings offer a variety of chromatic combinations and surface textures, while in time their exposure to atmospheric agents has aesthetically transformed them. Those drums become therefore a new raw material, cleaned and empowered by expert and skillful workmanship, they get a significant added value as they are elevated to the state of art, that is why every product is initialed and numbered. From cutting to folding, from welding to sanding and painting, nearly every operation is carried out manually, leaving only a small part to “machines”. It is devices or better tools, which become the natural extension of one’s body and mind. In our furniture there is no ”inside” or “outside”, there is no “before” or “after” because all the shapes made are studied to be selfstanding, as the reclaimed material is combined to the right working technique, which does not foresee the use of any framework or supporting structure. So what is inside is also outside and viceversa. As far as “before and “after” on the other hand, we work on conceiving style and shape so as to eliminate every reference to the original drum, thinking of it in such a way that its body seems to have been made specifically for a definite function, be it a chair, a container or a lighting body...for ever and ever. The furniture therefore will still carry the coat of time gone by. “Before” was the material work, the “time when” is the expert balance of aesthetics, shape and function, allowing it eventually to express the same concept with the same emphasis and emotional charge.. i.e. the “after”.
Beyond all this the product’s “uniqueness” must imperatively prevail. With the awareness that each of those products, be they standard” or custom made, can and must be replicated only approximately but they shall never be exactly the same.
